Lay Reflectors of the Word is a St. Agnes parish ministry created to provide opportunities for lay parishioners to break open the Word of God in our weekday and weekend liturgies.
The Lay Reflectors of the Word ministry began in early 2021 after prayerful communal discernment and at the invitation of our pastor, Fr. George Williams, SJ. The ministry is built upon the principles found in the Second Vatican Council’s “Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity" advocating that the voices of lay people deserve amplification. As the People of God, we are called to speak from our lived experience of faith and the Gospel of Jesus. This is one of the ways we make Christ a reality in our community.
Every Friday at noon, there is a lay-led communion service. On the fourth Sunday of every month, there is a lay reflection given after communion at three of the weekend liturgies.
We welcome your interest in this ministry. As an introduction, please join us and attend a Friday communion service or a weekend liturgy featuring a lay reflection. Individuals active in this ministry will experience the encouragement of its members and the support of the parish. For people who are interested in participating, we provide opportunities for the required training sessions and a ministry retreat.
